Creative Ministry Resources International and Dr.
Milton H.O. Maye dedicates this book to the God of
nations and to all the nations of God but especially
those nations who have made the God of heaven an
important part of their national standards.
God is referred to on many occasions in the Bible as
the God of nations. In Psalms 24:1 David declares
that the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness
thereof, the world and everyone in it. The Psalmist
believed that God owns it all! In Jeremiah 10:7,
Jeremiah calls God the Kings of the nations.
Certainly God’s involvement in nations over the
centuries has been no secret; from the annals of
Israel, the theocracy God created, to Egypt whom He
humbled, to Fiji a modern day miracle and beyond the
vivid tales is portrayed. In Isaiah 44:28, God
refers to Cyrus the king of Persia as His shepherd
and also in chapter 45:1 He again called him His
anointed whose hand He held to subdue nations.
Interestingly also, in the book of Ezra 1:2 Cyrus
himself made a startling declaration, “All the
kingdoms of the earth the Lord has given me and He
has ‘commanded’ me to build a house at Jerusalem
which is in Judah.”
The Bible describes God as the creator of all
nations, the Lord of the nations, the ruler of the
nations, the King of kings, the one who appoints
rulers, the Redeemer of the nations and the one unto
whom all nations will come to worship.
From ancient to modern times we see where the
policies of nations have been influenced by God. How
else do we explain the many countries that have
national holidays surrounding the birth and death of
Christ, Christmas and Easter, events deemed of such
national significance to nations that entire nations
shut down to remember and reflect on them? For some
countries religious holidays comprise over fifty
percent of their national holidays. Doesn’t this
speak to the active involvement and influence of the
God of heaven on national policies? Doesn’t this
justify the assertion in Proverbs 21:1, “The king’s
heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of
water, He turns it wherever He wishes.”?
Truly, if the religious holidays are not adequate
evidence of God’s involvement, the many references
and prayers to God in the national anthems, the most
important symbol of every nation’s national
identity, the symbol of every nation’s Olympic
pride, also played at every important national event
says audibly that God had a hand in pointing the
hearts of the forefathers of our nations to Himself
as the only solution to the cascading problems that
touches each one of us daily.
It is only fitting therefore that we dedicate this
book, the Bible creatively paraphrased to reach the
hearts of peoples through its unique features and
worship and devotional study focus, to the nations
who have placed the God of the word close to their
hearts and has made Him an important part of their
national life.
